The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team Workshop
Outstanding Teams and Leaders
By PEDRO SOLÓRZANO
The workshops that change everything!
- Do your team members trust each other?
- Do they have mutual trust “based on vulnerability”?
- Does your team engage in productive conflicts to examine ideas?
- Do they know the difference between “good” and “bad” conflict?
- Does your team achieve commitment to the objectives of your organization?
- Does everyone have acceptance and clarity?
- Do your team members hold each other accountable for their actions, behaviors, and the achievement of their goals?
- Are individual behaviors getting in the way of your team’s effectiveness?
- Does your team pay enough attention to team results?
- Do they lack focus on your collective results due to external or internal distractions?
These questions from Patrick Lencioni’s book The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team highlight the things that could cause your team to not achieve all that it can achieve.
Even the best leaders and managers recognize that team dynamics can be improved in their organization. Cultural Strategies can help bring a Strengths-based approach to overcoming The Five Dysfunctions through the Workshop facilitation.
I combine the workshop with a 19 page Report that analyzes and delves into the behaviors of your team. On this basis, once trust is stablished among Team members, achieving a more collaborative and cohesive Team that can achieve exceptional results for your organization.
With the 5 dysfunctions of a team workshop you will discover new ways to manage conflictsand overcome behaviors that may have unconsciously damaged your team. This will allow you to use all of your strengths to engage each individual in better problem solving, brainstorming, and decision making. With the workshop the 5 dysfunctions of a team you will achieve an immediate transfer of learning to the position and the work team.

The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team Workshop
- Module 1 1. WORKSHOP OPENING AND THE 5 DYSFUCNTIONS MODEL
Welcome and Explanation of the Model. - Module 2. DEBRIEFING THE TEAM ASSESMENT
Review, Accompaniment, Guidance and Important Findings of the Team Evaluation Report. - Module 3. BUILDING TRUST
Trust is at the heart of a cohesive and functional team and can only exist when team members are willing to be completely vulnerable to each other. - Module 4. MASTERING CONFLICT
Conflict is uncomfortable by nature, but productive conflict focused on concepts and ideas is essential for any great team to grow. When teams have a vulnerability-based trust base, the conflict becomes an attempt to find the best possible solution in the shortest possible time. - Module 5. ACHIEVING COMMITMENT
Compromise is clarity around decisions, not consensus. With commitment, teams move forward with the full acceptance of each team member, including those who may initially disagree. - Module 6. EMBRACING ACCOUNTABILITY
Difficult conversations are easy to avoid, but drawing the attention of colleagues to performance or behaviors that could harm the team is essential to productivity. - Module 7. FOCUSING ON RESULTS
One of the biggest challenges to team success is inattention to results. Great teams ensure that all members, regardless of their individual responsibilities and areas of expertise, are doing their best to help achieve the team’s goals. - Module 8. CONCLUDING THE WORKSHOP
Review, Summary, Agreements and workshop Closing.
Workshop Formats
Based on the results of Lencioni’s evaluation, I will design a custom flow for the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team Workshop. Because situations and teams are different, there are several options for programs of different lengths and what you can expect to achieve in the different formats:
